Update: Ravenhall Dice

Now that our struggles are complete, we can announce our Dice project! (which is really a stem off of the Headhunter tree). Anyone who has followed our Headhunter progress would know that one of the final pieces of contention that we were debating was how to determine how many job openings that there are for the employer to make selections for. We had ruled out other possibilities and decided upon a die to roll. However, should we have a 1d4? A 1-2-2-3-3-4 (d6)? A 1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4 (d8)? Or some other variant? Ultimately, between our play-testers, our designers, and those members of the tabletop community that we polled, we determined that the most ideal choice would be a 6 sided die, that would feature the numbers 1-2-2-3-3-4.

That being said, those dice are not easy to come by, so we decided to look into producing them ourselves with the game. A friend kindly pointed out to us that the 1-2-2-3-3-4 die is actually part of a special pair of dice known as Sicherman Dice, a mathematical revelation and novelty. One thing led to another, and soon we were designing our own unique dice designs, putting Ben’s Engineering training to the test! We ended up with (3) designs: the pair of Sicherman Dice, and our own d6 to match the pair. We went through a lengthy process of discovering how dice are made, how much it costs, and who does what, when, where, why, etc. We had talked to over 40 companies in the process! I digress.

The important information is, we have selected a manufacturer and are completing our paperwork and will begin making our (3) dice molds. We will be offering (3) different dice designs (detailed images to come once the printing begins), and (4) different base color options to choose from for each design. The process from here on out will take a few months for the mold creation, prototype approval, and printing. We expect to have dice available for individual sale or wholesale in the first Quarter of 2019 (we tried to get it in by Christmas, but alas we couldn’t).

More information and pictures to come!
